Oslo Gardermoen Airport is the main and largest airport of the Norwegian capital. It is a hub for the airlines of Scandinavian Airlines System and Norwegian Air Shuttle. The airport has two runways, and is situated in 48km to north of the city. This structure appeared during the World War II on the place of airdrome, but it was put to rights and then opened in 1998, in Gardermoen. This area was used as a military training ground in the 18^th century.

Currently Gardermoen has one terminal with two piers that are used respectively for domestic and international flights. Oslo Gardermoen Airport is connected by the regular flights with 25 airports of Norway (16 of them are served by jet aircraft), as well as with the cities in Europe, Asia and North America.

Using bus, train or taxi it is easy to get to the airport or leave it; the highway E6 connects the center of Oslo and the airport, as well as railway. Buses deliver passengers to the central railway station and even to some hotels in Oslo. Moreover, it is possible to reach the city from Gardermoen Airport by the high speed trains of Flytoget.
